Perform a PC Backup Before Making Major Changes to Your Computer

October 29, 2007 By: Migo Software Category: PC Backup

These days, it’s easier than ever to make changes to your PC. You don’t need to go to a specialized computer repair center, the “big box” electronic stores all have a staff on hand to update RAM, install a DVD burner, update your OS, install a second hard drive - whatever you want or need done.

Want better graphics? Let them put in a better card. Need better sound? Let them install new speakers. Want a system that will let you store more music and photos? Have a computer technician install a new hard drive and use your old one as an external drive.

But before you make any changes to your computer, be sure to backup your PC.

PC Backup software lets you make a copy of all of your essential files just in case. Should you expect that something will go wrong? Absolutely not - but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be prepared just in case.

With a PC Backup, no matter what you’re having done with your computer, you won’t have to worry about losing files, photos, songs, spreadsheets, internet preferences or even emails: everything will be there - and you won’t have to feel weird when you’re asked if you backed everything up when you drop off your computer because you won’t have to say no.

PC Backup Takes the Thinking Out of Backing Up Your PC

October 16, 2007 By: Migo Software Category: PC Backup

One of the most common excuses that people have for not backing up their PC is that they think it’s a time consuming, involved process. It can be, if you make the choice to manually select which files you’re going to backup - or you decide to backup everything, taking one file or folder at a time and copying it over onto CDs, DVDs or even an external hard drive.

It seems like more people would take the time to backup their PC if it didn’t take much time. It seems like more people would take the necessary step of performing a PC backup if there were a more convenient way of doing it.

Well, if it’s always been your excuse that backing up your PC takes too much time and effort, obviously you haven’t heard of Migo Software’s PC Backup.

With PC Backup, you can backup all of your Word documents, or all of your JPGs, or all of your MP3s - or you can backup everything. You can schedule backups - including incremental backups - so that you don’t have to think too much about it and the backup will take less time.

In other words, PC Backup makes it easy to backup what’s important to you - so easy that you don’t even have to think about it.

Why Should You Backup Your PC?

October 13, 2007 By: Migo Software Category: PC Backup

Business networks backup their computer database regularly to avoid losing proprietary files, to avoid losing marketing materials, customer databases and employee emails. Small businesses make sure that they use PC Backup software to maintain their inventory reports, keep track of sales and invoices, income and expenses.

Some individuals who use their computers for business purposes also use PC Backup software to ensure that they will be able to access their data, music or photos and programs in the event that something goes horribly awry with their computer. But there are plenty of individuals who just don’t see why they should bother to back up their PCs.

They have all sorts of good excuses:

  • Backing up my PC will take too much time
  • My hard drive isn’t going to crash
  • I’ve got anti-virus software so my computer won’t get infected so I don’t have to worry about my files being corrupted
  • I wouldn’t know what was important enough to backup
  • I could live without everything on my computer

Though all of these “reasons” seem okay at the time, they aren’t necessarily valid. Hard drives crash. New viruses crop up faster than anti-virus software can protect your PC from them. Sure, you could live without the files on your computer, but would you really want to?

With PC Backup from Migo Software, it’s easy to backup your PC. It doesn’t take much time at all, and you’ll find that you can perfom incremental backups - backing up only the files that have changed - so that it never takes long at all.

Business networks, small businesses and individuals don’t backup their PCs because they anticipate that something will happen; they backup their PC just in case something happens.

3 Examples of Why Performing a PC Backup is a Good Idea

October 09, 2007 By: Migo Software Category: PC Backup

Almost everyone knows that they should be backing up their PC on a fairly regular basis - but not everyone takes the time to do it. Here are five situations in which having a PC backup would prove invaluable.

  1. Your taxes are due and in order to file online with your state you need to have some information from last year’s tax return. The problem is that last year you filed online and since then, you suffered a major computer crash. If you’d done regular PC backups, it wouldn’t be a problem - you’d have been able to easily access the file.
  2. It’s the night before your term paper is due and you’ve been working on the project for weeks. The problem is your friend opened an email with a virus in it, and that virus got to you. You open the file because he usually sends some great stuff and all of a sudden, your hard drive goes down. If you’d been backing up your work, it wouldn’t be a problem to open the file and work somewhere else; if you hadn’t, you may find yourself starting from scratch at the last minute.
  3. You’re getting ready to show your friends that great photo from your last vacation but you just can’t find it. You start thinking and realize that it may have been caught up in that group you deleted. If you’d backed up the file, you’d just be able to pull it up again, but if you didn’t, well, all you’ll have left are the memories.

With PC Backup, you don’t need to worry about losing bank statements, tax records, assignments, photos or anything else. No matter what happens, you’ll be able to access your files and restore a copy of them.
