 The Revert to Saved Document Command

If you are working on an Excel spreadsheet and the data becomes corrupted or there is a failure in the Excel application before you have been able to sae the spreadsheet, then try the Revert to Saved Documet Command.

Here’s how you do it:

1. Go to File menu->Open->select name of file and a dialog box opens asking you “Revert to Saved Document ?”;

2. Click on “OK”;

3. Your spreadsheet is recovered.

We’ve all experienced Microsoft Word shutting down for no apparent reason when we’re right in the middle of writing a document, either that or there is a system crash and “POOF” all gone !

It tends to be too late to start worrying about when you last saved the Word document but here is a handy useful tip to make sure that the document you are working on is automatically saved as you go along - bear in mind it does not replace regularly saving your work but it is a very useful tip to avoid those gut wrenching moments.

In the MS Word toolbar, select Tools->Options->Save and choose Save AutoRecover for every check box - you then enter the time interval you want for Word to automatically save your work.  The shortr the time inteval the more work that will be recovered from your work in progress Word document.

When the file has been recovered after loss, make sure you save it or it will be deleted and all of your changes will be lost and bear in mind if you save the recovered Word document this will replace the original file unless you choose a different name for it.
