MS Word Recovery
this was a real life query:
“I was trying to copy and paste about fifteen paragraphs of text from a Microsoft Word document to an email message, and somehow ended up cutting the text out of the document and then had the email client crash”
So here’s how to perform the recovery:
MS Word keeps a history of your dcument even though it looks like nothing is in there and even though you have “Revision Tracking” turned off.
To access the information you need to enable document conversion to open - in XP this is performed by opening a blank document then click Tools=>Options=>General tab.
Put a tick in the “Confirm Conversion at Open” box.
Open up the file with the missing text in it and you a “Convert File” dialog box apears - select “Recover Text from Any File” and click “OK”.
You’re document should now have a jumble of what looks like jibberish with MS Word markers and annotations all over it but in there will be your lost text.
